Organized in Chicago in 1933 by three founding chapters (New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Illinois), it now has ninety-eight chapters with over 10,000 members throughout the United States, Canada, Eastern Europe and Asia. New Jersey Chapter #1, a founding chapter of IREM, has a long and distinguished history of IREM leadership having contributed four National presidents, several regional vice presidents and the first woman CPM who achieved her designation in 1935. IREM, an affiliate of the National Association of Realtors, is widely recognized as the premiere professional organization of real estate property managers and as the major educational and training source for property management professionals throughout the world.
